ACCA to CA Singapore: The New Fast-Track Pathway You Need to Know About

The Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) have introduced an exclusive ACCA to CA Singapore pathway, creating a faster, more structured route for ACCA members to obtain the Singapore CA qualification.

ACCA to CA Singapore Pathway: Why It Matters Now

ACCA Singapore conversion pathway solves a very specific challenge: how to make internationally qualified accountants immediately relevant in Singapore’s highly regulated business environment.

Here’s what it enables:

  • Bridging Global to Local
ACCA is globally recognised, but Singapore’s financial ecosystem requires strong knowledge of local tax, compliance, and corporate regulations. This pathway helps professionals transition seamlessly into that context.
  • Recognising Local Practice Readiness
The CA (Singapore) eligibility signals that you’re equipped to operate within Singapore’s legal and business frameworks.
  • Strengthening Talent for a Global Hub
As a major financial centre, Singapore needs accountants who can operate across borders and within local regulations. The CA Singapore pathway helps build that dual capability.
  • Unlocking Career Progression
For many ACCA professionals, adding the Singapore CA qualification strengthens credibility, especially for roles involving statutory reporting, leadership, or regulatory responsibilities.

What’s New in the ACCA to CA Singapore Pathway in 2025

This pathway is structured into two defined routes, making it easier for ACCA members and students who pursue ACCA Singapore to achieve CA Singapore qualification. This fast-track pathway:

  • Introduces two structured entry routes for ACCA members
  • Clarifies experience and module requirements
  • Provides a limited-time conversion opportunity

More importantly, it aligns with Singapore’s increasing demand for locally recognised, practice-ready accounting professionals, driven by rapid technology adoption (AI), sustainability reporting, and business expansion.

Key Deadlines You Should Know

The ACCA members’ pathway will be available for three years, from 26 March 2025 to 25 March 2028. ACCA Affiliates and Students will have until 25 March 2033 to complete all requirements and apply to be a CA (Singapore).

Since this is a time-bound opportunity, structured preparation through the Preparatory Course for ACCA and Singapore CA Qualification (SCAQ) programme at the London School of Business and Finance in Singapore can help you stay on track and meet the pathway requirements within the given timelines.

Why ACCA Alone isn’t Enough in Singapore

The ACCA qualification is widely accepted across MNCs, financial services and commercial finance roles. So, who should consider the ACCA-to-CA pathway?

When your career becomes Singapore-centric and falls into one of these categories:

  • ACCA Members Seeking Local Statutory Rights: You already have your ACCA qualification, but your goal is to sign audit reports or operate within regulated frameworks in Singapore; a local designation, CA (Singapore), becomes essential.
  • Experienced Professionals: Professionals with significant professional experience post-ACCA membership. Especially those approaching leadership roles often benefit from the CA Singapore pathway.
  • Those Seeking Dual Credentials: Combining ACCA’s global mobility with CA Singapore’s local recognition creates a dual-credential advantage, particularly in Singapore-based leadership roles.

Frequently Asked Questions on ACCA to CA Singapore Pathway

Is overseas experience accepted for this pathway?

Yes. The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants accepts overseas experience, but it is assessed case by case. Experience from recognised jurisdictions (e.g. UK, Australia, Hong Kong) is typically well regarded. Strong documentation and employer sign-off are essential.

Do I need to complete the full SCAQ?

No. Under the ACCA–ISCA arrangement, full ACCA members receive substantial exemptions. You’ll typically qualify via the Experience Route (no exams) or the Capstone (IB) Route only.

How long does the ACCA-to-CA Singapore process take?

For a full ACCA member taking the Experience Route, the process is largely administrative, gathering documentation and submitting your application. This can take as little as a few weeks once your paperwork is in order. If you are taking the IB Route and need to complete the Capstone Module, add the time required for module registration, preparation, and sitting (typically a few months per cycle). For ACCA affiliates, the timeline extends to however long it takes to complete the Capstone and satisfy the experience requirement

Is the ACCA-to-CA Singapore pathway permanent?

No. The pathway is time-bound and subject to review. However, once awarded, your CA (Singapore) designation remains valid regardless of future changes.

Is ACCA considered a Chartered Accountant?

ACCA stands for Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, so ACCA members are Chartered Certified Accountants, a distinct designation from Chartered Accountants.

Both are internationally respected professional qualifications. ‘Chartered Accountant’ (CA) is issued by specific national bodies such as ISCA (Singapore), ICAEW (England and Wales), ICAS (Scotland), and ICAI (India), among others. ACCA and CA designations are separate and issued by different bodies, though many jurisdictions have mutual recognition arrangements between them.

In Singapore, ACCA members are recognised by ISCA but must complete the conversion pathway to formally hold the CA Singapore designation.
