FAQs
What is the difference between a diploma and a degree programme—and which level should I start at?
- Diploma: Focuses on foundational, hands-on industry skills. It is ideal for O-Level/A-Level graduates, polytechnic students, or career switchers entering a new field. Our diploma courses in Singapore also offer advanced and higher diploma pathways, making it easier for you to progress to a bachelor’s degree and complete it on campus in just 8-12 months.
- Bachelor’s Degree: Offers deep academic theory, specialised management training, and a globally recognised credential awarded by our UK partner universities – University of East London, University of Greenwich and University of Chichester
- Where to start: If you do not meet the direct entry requirements for a bachelor’s degree, you can start with our Diploma or Advanced Diploma pathways, which lead to a bachelor’s degree. If you’re still feeling confused, don’t worry—our education consultants are right here to help clarify everything for you.
What qualifications do I need to enrol in a diploma programme?
Entry requirements vary by programmes, but generally include:
- For local students, completion of GCE O-Levels (typically with passes in 1–3 subjects, depending on the diploma tier) and High School certificates is required.
- For international students, completing 12 years of formal education is typically required. We also accept equivalent qualifications such as the IB Diploma or Cambridge A-level.
- Demonstrated English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS 5.5, a pass in LSBF’s English Placement Test, or a ‘C6’ in O-Level English).
- Note for mature applicants: If you are 21+ and have relevant working experience but lack formal qualifications, you can still apply through our Mature Entry Route.
- Foundation Options: We also offer foundation or certificate pathways if you do not meet the direct diploma entry requirements.
Feel free to check our diploma programme page or reach out to our education consultant to learn more about the entry requirements for diploma programmes.
What is the difference between full-time and part-time study—how does each affect duration, class schedule, and cost?
We structure our course schedules to balance academic success with your personal and professional life. Here is how the two options look:
Full-Time Study
- Who it’s for: Local and international students who want to focus entirely on their education.
(Note: Full-time study in Singapore is mandatory for international students requiring a Student Pass)
- Class Schedule: Weekday classes
- Duration: You will complete your modules at a faster pace, shortening your overall time to graduation.
Part-Time Study
- Who it’s for: Working professionals, or anyone balancing family commitments.
- Class Schedule: Evening classes (held after standard office hours) or weekend sessions.
- Duration: Flexible. The programme timeline is extended, giving you a much more manageable weekly workload.
Tuition fees are outlined on each programme page and may differ for local and international students. If you’d like more details about the overall fee structure, payment schedules, or instalment options, connect with our education consultant.
What is blended learning, and how does it work in practice for LSBF’s programmes?
Blended learning combines the structured support of on-campus interactive lectures with the ultimate flexibility of online learning resources. In practice, it gives you full control over how and where you study:
- On-Campus Engagement: You attend physical classes at our Singapore campus for core discussions, networking, and practical workshops with your lecturers and peers.
- Student Portal: Outside the classroom, you can review recorded lectures, access comprehensive digital study materials, and complete your coursework through our student portal.
- Live Online Classes: Immerse yourself in real-time, interactive learning with our live classes. This allows you to engage with your lecturers and ask questions instantly, no matter where you are logging in from.
Can I start at diploma level and progress all the way to a master’s degree without leaving Singapore?
Yes, absolutely. LSBF in Singapore offers a seamless, end-to-end academic pathway. You can start with a Diploma, progress directly into an Advanced/Higher Diploma, transition into a Bachelor’s Degree, and advance to a Master’s Degree (MBA Global or MSc)—all awarded by recognised UK partner universities right here in Singapore.
Which programmes are available for international students, and do I need a Student Pass to enrol?
Most of our full-time diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s programmes are fully open to international applicants. Yes, you will need a valid Student Pass issued by Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) to study full-time on campus. Our dedicated student support team assists you with the entire Student Pass application process once you receive your letter of acceptance.
What funding or fee support options are available across programmes?
Financial eligibility and funding options can vary by programme and your student residency status. We encourage you to reach out to our LSBF education consultant. They will walk you through the fee breakdown and help you explore the best financial support options tailored just for you.
How long does it take to complete a diploma, a degree top-up, and a master’s degree at full-time and part-time pace?
Programme durations vary depending on the specific field of study.
- Diploma & Advanced Diploma: Most of our foundational, advanced, and higher diploma programmes can be completed in 6 to 12 months.
- Bachelor’s Degree Top-Up & Honours: If you already hold a diploma or equivalent qualification, you can earn your full Bachelor’s Degree (including Honours options) in just 8 to 12 months.
- Master’s Degrees (including MBA Global): Let you secure a globally recognised postgraduate degree, awarded by UK universities, within a single year of full-time or part-time study.
Mapping the Total Journey:
- Diploma → Advanced Diploma → Bachelor’s Degree → Master’s Degree takes 36 months total to complete.
- Higher Diploma → Bachelor’s Degree → Master’s Degree takes 40 months total to complete.
