The ACCA qualification is a globally recognised professional credential awarded by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. It is highly prestigious and fully recognised in Singapore by major financial institutions, government bodies, and international corporations. Holding an ACCA certificate ensures your skills meet global standards, making it highly valuable for both building a local corporate footprint and pursuing international career mobility.

Pursuing ACCA in Singapore offers career advantages, as Singapore is a global business and financial hub. Studying accountancy in Singapore gives you exposure to modern financial practices, emerging technologies, and real-world business environments. There is also growing demand for accounting professionals, particularly in areas such as sustainability reporting, internal audit, and IT governance.

To start your ACCA qualification directly, you need at least two GCE A-Level passes and three GCSE/O-Level passes (including English and Mathematics) in five separate subjects. Holders of relevant local polytechnic diplomas or university degrees may also qualify for up to 9 paper exemptions to fast-track their studies. If you do not meet these academic prerequisites, you can easily enter via the open-entry Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) route.

When you are ready to register, simply prepare your academic transcripts, proof of identity (NRIC or passport), and a passport-style photograph.

To make the process seamless, an LSBF Singapore Campus education consultant can personally evaluate your qualifications, help you understand your entry requirements, and give you an insider’s glimpse of our targeted preparatory courses!

The duration of an ACCA course depends on your starting point and your study pace. On average, students taking an ACCA course in Singapore take between 2.5 and 3 years to clear all exam components and fulfil their practical experience framework. However, if you possess a relevant polytechnic diploma or university accounting degree, you may qualify for exam exemptions that significantly fast-track your timeline. ((Exemption Calculator is available on the ACCA website to assist students: ACCA Exemptions Calculator )

The ACCA Exam framework consists of three progressive levels: Applied Knowledge (3 papers on core foundations), Applied Skills (6 papers on technical operations), and Strategic Professional (4 papers on leadership). All assessments are conducted via modern, practical Computer-Based Exams (CBE). You must also complete the Ethics and Professional Skills Module and gain 3 years of supervised work experience.
Note that the curriculum is evolving: from September 2027, the ACCA 2027 syllabus will change, with a stronger focus on AI, data, and sustainable leadership. To see how these upcoming changes affect your study journey, read our detailed breakdown on the LSBF Blog on ACCA Syllabus Changes.

ACCA qualification prepares you for career opportunities in accountancy in Singapore and globally across industries such as banking, audit, corporate finance, consulting, insurance, technology, and the public sector. These roles can lead to senior finance and leadership positions over time, depending on experience and specialisation.

Career opportunities after ACCA include roles such as:
Auditor
Financial Analyst
Management Accountant
Tax Consultant
Risk Analyst
Internal Auditor
Sustainability and CSR Reporting Professional

Sustainability and CSR reporting are creating new job opportunities as more firms support corporates in meeting sustainability goals.

Salaries vary by experience, with entry-level roles typically ranging from SGD 45,000–65,000, mid-level professionals earning around SGD 80,000–130,000, and senior finance roles reaching SGD 140,000–240,000+ per year.

You can explore career opportunities and industry insights through the ACCA Careers.

The main differences between the ACCA qualification and many accounting courses in Singapore are global recognition and a career focus. The ACCA qualification, however, is recognised in over 180 countries, making it a good option if you want the flexibility to work in multinational or Big 4 companies, banks, or global organisations.

University degrees and diplomas usually build your foundation in accounting and business, and are often an eligibility requirement to start your ACCA journey.

But, if your goal is to sign off on statutory audits as a Public Accountant in Singapore, the Singapore CA Qualification may be a better fit. To learn how ACCA can lead to the Singapore CA pathway, check out our blog on the ACCA–Singapore CA fast-track route.

Yes. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification can support both degree progression and further studies. Completing the Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills levels is broadly comparable to a UK bachelor’s degree standard, while completing Strategic Professional is comparable to a UK Master’s degree standard in terms of learning level. After completing your exams, Ethics and Professional Skills module, and practical experience requirements, you become a qualified professional accountant.

You can also progress to postgraduate studies such as the MBA Global, or professional certifications such as the Singapore CA Qualification (SCAQ), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), CPA Australia (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Financial Risk Manager Certification, depending on your career goals.
