Graduates of the Advanced Certificate in Healthcare and Social Care Management will be equipped with the practical skills, foundational knowledge, and professional behaviours required to enter or progress in the growing healthcare and community care sectors in Singapore. The qualification opens up entry-level employment and further study opportunities in both public and private care settings.
Fundamental Practices in Health and Nursing
This module introduces learners to the core principles and best practices in health and nursing care. Topics include hygiene and infection control, basic clinical procedures, communication with patients, and maintaining a safe and supportive care environment. Learners will gain foundational skills essential for assisting with daily living activities and supporting healthcare professionals in various care settings.
Case Management in Eldercare
This module focuses on the systematic coordination of care for elderly individuals. Learners will explore how to assess needs, develop care plans, monitor progress, and collaborate with families and healthcare teams. Emphasis is placed on personalised care planning, goal setting, and ensuring continuity of care to enhance the quality of life for older persons.
Waste Disposal Management
This module covers the proper handling, segregation, and disposal of healthcare-related waste to ensure environmental safety and prevent the spread of infections. Learners will understand regulatory requirements, types of healthcare waste (e.g., biohazardous, sharps, and general waste), and the importance of safe disposal practices in maintaining hygiene and complying with health standards in eldercare environments.
Industrial Attachment (IA) Briefing
The IA Briefing is a preparatory module designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and expectations before commencing their Industrial Attachment. This module outlines workplace protocols, professional conduct, safety standards, and reporting requirements. As a pass/fail component, successful completion is based on attendance, participation, and understanding of placement responsibilities. It ensures that students are fully prepared to enter their placement sites with confidence and professionalism.
Industrial Attachment
The Industrial Attachment provides learners with hands-on experience in real-world healthcare or social care settings. It bridges classroom learning with practical application, enhancing job readiness. Students gain exposure to professional practices, develop workplace competencies, and build confidence by applying their skills under supervision in actual care environments. LSBF will extend its placement network to include social work practice with opportunities across local agencies, public healthcare institutions, and both private and voluntary sector organisations. Where possible, placements are thoughtfully matched to align with each student’s interests and future career goals, considering their final placement preferences to ensure meaningful and relevant industry exposure.

Programme Aims
As an applied and interdisciplinary field, Healthcare and Social Care Management addresses the increasing demand for integrated, person-centred support services in Singapore’s evolving healthcare landscape. In response to national priorities such as Healthier SG and the shift towards community-based and preventive care, there is a growing need for trained professionals who can operate effectively across healthcare and social service settings.
The Advanced Certificate in Healthcare and Social Care Management aims to equip learners with the competencies, knowledge, and practical skills required to:
- Provide foundational knowledge of Singapore’s healthcare and social service landscape, including system structure, care models, service delivery settings, and national policies such as Healthier SG, AIC’s Community Care programmes, and MOH’s Integrated Care Pathways.
- Develop job-ready competencies aligned to the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Skills Framework for Healthcare and Social Service, specifically covering selected Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs).
- Map learning outcomes to WSQ-accredited modules, enabling learners to gain nationally recognised Statements of Attainment (SOAs) that support immediate workforce entry or progression in the healthcare and social service sectors.
- Build essential soft skills such as effective communication, empathy, teamwork, and cultural competence to support patients, clients, and their families in various care environments—hospitals, nursing homes, day care centres, rehabilitation facilities, and home-based services.
- Enhance employability for roles such as Patient Service Associate, Healthcare Assistant, Therapy Aide, Community Care Support Assistant, and Social Work Associate, in alignment with Occupational Tracks identified in the Skills Framework.
Learning Outcomes
Graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate foundational knowledge of Singapore’s healthcare and social care systems, including structures, services, policies (e.g., Healthier SG), and community care models relevant to patient and eldercare support.
- Apply basic health and nursing care practices safely and effectively, including assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), maintaining hygiene, and supporting clinical and community-based care services in accordance with infection control and workplace safety standards.
- Support case management processes in eldercare by conducting needs assessments, assisting with care planning, coordinating services, and communicating effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Manage healthcare waste responsibly by following standard operating procedures for segregation, disposal, and spill response to ensure environmental health and compliance with MOH and NEA guidelines.
- Demonstrate professional behaviour and interpersonal skills, including ethical conduct, empathy, teamwork, and respect for diversity in the care of patients and clients across different care environments.
- Reflect on workplace practices and experiences during industrial attachment to identify strengths, areas for improvement, and continuous learning goals that support career progression in healthcare and social care sectors.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, caregivers, and professionals, using appropriate terminology and demonstrating cultural sensitivity and patient-centred care principles.
- Comply with legal, ethical, and confidentiality standards relevant to healthcare and social care work, including adherence to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and healthcare organisational policies.

ELIGIBILITY
Who can apply for this programme
Minimum Academic Entry Requirement:
Local students shall possess one of the following:
- Minimum GCE O Level (3 subject passes including English) and/or
- Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) with at least Level 4 proficiency
- International Baccalaureate (24 points)
- Vocational Diploma in relevant field of study; or
- Other equivalent qualifications
International students shall possess one of the following:
- Completion of Year 10 High School Qualification in science subjects or equivalent qualification from respective home countries
- Vocational Diploma in a relevant field of study; or
- Other equivalent qualifications.
Students with non-standard entry requirements or Mature candidates will be assessed on a case-by-case basis through LSBF internal placement test and oral assessment subject to approval of the Academic Board.
Minimum English Language Entry Requirement
- Achieved a grade C6 or better in English language O level, or
- Pass in English Language in Year 10 High School qualification or equivalent.
- IELTS 5.5/TOEFL iBT score range of 46 to 59
- Completed LSBF Preparatory Course in English Upper Intermediate Level
- Dynamic Placement Test or Duolingo 90-115 test score.
