MODULES
Designed to explore beyond subject knowledge
The Postgraduate Diploma in Cybersecurity provides a comprehensive curriculum aligned with industry standards, ensuring students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The programme includes foundational modules such as Security Management and Computer Security, focusing on identifying vulnerabilities and implementing defensive mechanisms to safeguard information systems and networks. Advanced topics like IT & Internet Law and Digital Forensics prepare students to navigate complex legal frameworks and conduct thorough investigations involving digital evidence.
Graduates will also complete the Mental Wealth – Professional Life (Dissertation) module, where they undertake a Master-level project addressing real-world challenges. This module enhances research, analytical, and project management skills, fostering reflective practices and preparing students for leadership roles in cybersecurity.
Cybersecurity Essentials
This module will equip students with the nature and scope of today’s cybersecurity challenges, strategies for network defence, and detailed information about next-generation cybersecurity. Students will also deploy a variety of security methodologies, along with technologies used for implementing secure network environments. Using Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls, students will learn to evaluate cybersecurity principles and demonstrate how to secure a network computing environment through the application of security controls.
Cybersecurity Infrastructure Configuration
This module develops the skills and techniques required for installing and configuring firewalls. Students will gain a general understanding of how to install, configure, and manage firewalls for the defence of enterprise network architecture. Students will also learn the theory and steps for setting up the security, networking, threat prevention, logging, and reporting features of Next-Generation Firewalls.
Security Assessment & Testing
This module will equip students with security assessment and testing focusing on vulnerability testing, penetration testing and IT security auditing procedures. This module covers networking fundamentals, WAN technologies, basic security and wireless concepts, routing and switching fundamentals, and configuring simple networks. This module allows students to gain practical experience to install, operate and troubleshoot a small sized branch network, including network security.
Cybersecurity Prevention and Countermeasures
This module develops the skills and techniques required for students to learn the theory and extended configuration features necessary for setting up traffic handling, advanced content and user identification, quality of service, GlobalProtect, monitoring and reporting, and high availability of next-generation firewalls.
