LSBF in Singapore big on collaborations last year; paves the way for global learning in 2018

International Sustainability Education Initiative in Singapore’s Year of Climate Action

Singapore, 26 January 2018 – Described as an international sustainability education initiative, a new Diploma of Sustainable Operations is being introduced this year appropriately timed to fit into Singapore’s Year of Climate Action.

“This programme will fill a much-needed gap in what is currently available by way of education in the business and practice of sustainability in Singapore”, said Ken Hickson, Chairman of Sustain Ability Showcase Asia.

This 10-day intensive Australian Government accredited qualification focussed on equipping participants with a multitude of critical skills in the management of energy, carbon and sustainability issues.

This programme is developed by Australian Centre for Sustainability Studies and Training (ACSST) and will be delivered by industry experts and world-renowned researchers who have extensive experience in climate change policy, carbon and energy markets, business management, energy efficiency, forestry and business sustainability. The programme is offered by London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) in Singapore.

“It’s entirely appropriate that in Singapore’s Year of Climate Action, we’re helping to equip industry professionals and managers with the knowledge and the skills they will need to understand and comply with Government policy on climate change mitigation and adaptation, including the introduction of a Carbon Tax and company sustainability reporting," added Ken.

The programme will help participants to undertake energy audits, sustainability reporting using the Global Reporting Initiative, greenhouse gas emissions inventory, the appraisal of various energy generation technologies, and finally, participation in an emissions trading scheme simulation.

The programme will commence from16 April to 27 April 2018. In addition to the intensive period of hands-on classroom study, there will be workshops and site visits.  Participants are also required to complete practical exercises, an online examination and produce a post-course report. This is all expected to be carried over a six-month period.
