General English Programmes
General English programmes at London School of Business & Finance, Singapore, offer students a solid foundation in the four main areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening.
By the time students have completed the programme, they will have the confidence and expertise needed to excel in an English speaking environment.
These programmes are designed for students who are 16 years old and above and would like to learn English in Singapore, regardless of their current language level. Our experienced tutors will provide our students with a well-rounded blend of general, academic and professional English, making the programme particularly relevant if they aspire to work or study further in an English-speaking country.

Assessment is modular-based – there are separate assessment modes for every module at the five proficiency levels:
The types of assessments students will complete during the course may include tests, reports, proposals, giving presentations, leading and participating in group discussions, group projects, listening and note-taking and reading tasks.
Assignments
Assignments will include writing and presentation assignments.
Informal Assessment
Lecturers assess students informally on an on-going basis on many different types of activities including giving presentations, leading and participating in class discussions and working on group projects.
The final marks awarded to students upon completion of each Certificate in General English level is an aggregate of all the marks obtained in each module through the different assessment modes used. These marks are taken into account for students’ progression into the next Certificate in General English level.
Students will obtain Certificate of Achievement awarded by London School of Business & Finance upon completion of the course.
The Certificate in General English programmes are offered to both local (Singaporean) and international students, who are 16 years old and above, and have completed their high school education and who are interested in pursuing a tertiary education in the English medium in LSBF School of English. All potential students are required to sit for a placement test to ascertain their proficiency levels before admittance into any of these courses.
Placement Test
An English Placement Test (EPT) is to be administered at London School of Business & Finance premise to determine the respective levels the students qualify for.
Students who are in their country of origin are required to sit for 2 EPT. Students who have taken the EPT at the Recruitment Agent’s Office at their country of origin will need to take a second EPT which will be conducted at London School of Business & Finance premise. Only the latter test will determine the final level of English that the student qualify for.

Our General English Programmes will teach students language skills which will greatly benefit them, both in their career and their personal life, no matter what their future plans are or where in the world they live. These language skills will become especially useful if they decide to continue studying with us.
